For the first edition of REF, I was responsible for the creation of the logo and visual concept, as well as managing promotion, press office, social media marketing and overall communication. I also took care of creating multimedia content to support the event.
In addition to the creative and communication aspects, I oversaw the set-up of the theater where the festival took place and coordinated the organization of the press conference, ensuring smooth and strategic management of the entire event.
The project was divided into two phases. The first phase was the call for works, for which I designed a standalone visual concept that would later connect to the visual concept for promoting the event itself.
Since the festival focused on experimental music and video art, I found it compelling to connect the imagery to the theme of body painting, creating a minimalist yet striking approach. The concept combined sketch-like art with a minimalistic aesthetic that, at the same time, conveyed a sense of extreme expression through its simplicity. This juxtaposition of minimalism and intensity became the core visual identity for the festival.
In terms of communication, it was essential to reach an international audience. To achieve this, we leveraged both mainstream social media platforms and more niche industry-specific channels. Through these efforts, we successfully gathered approximately 300 submissions from artists in the fields of experimental music and video art, expanding the festival’s reach and establishing a diverse and dynamic lineup for the event.
