My life as a model - Prince Carneiro

You probably noticed him on Vogue or Lewis magazine but now here he is, Prince Carneiro telling us about his life in the fashion world and thanks to him we will discover some interesting behind-the-scenes stories of this enchanting but also difficult world.

How did you start your modeling career?

I started it back home, my friend invited me in a photoshoot and after I ended up in magazine! Which I never was expecting! But I still wasn’t taking it serious. Everything really started when I came to New York and I was scouted on models.com with my first agency.

What are your goals as a model? How do you see yourself progress in this field?

First of all my goals as a model is to do big show because I dream big in my head so I see myself doing show for big brands and I want to be involved in all kind of cool modeling jobs that can help me get more exposure so I can go forward. My main goal is to get at that level where I can speak for others, sometimes I feel like my mission is to speak and show the different so people can change in their particular way by my words or my images.

What's the hardest thing of being a model?

The hardest thing of being a model is rejection. There’s a lot of no then yes. Sometime you feel like giving up because the booker gave you 10 castings and nobody booked you, so being a model it’s not for everyone, you really have to be patient and learn how to accept the fact that you will not fit all the designers need , sometime they need something different and you have to real know how to don’t take everything personal.

Can you tell us some secret about the modeling world?

Ahah that’s a funny question but I’ll try to answer! Some people think that models earn a lot of money..listen, when you trying to make it, you don’t earn nothing at all, the agencies have their fees etc so if you get booked only 2 jobs is like nothing!!! There’s a lot of jobs that get you just for exposure some of them you work with them and they pay you clothes and that’s it. Also about racism it’s the big problem that a lot of people outside doesn’t know but inside the modeling world there’s a lot of racism so being models isn’t a joke .

What does "body positivity" mean for you?

Body positivity is the practice of encouraging positive thinking about our bodies, finding ways to actively love our bodies, and working towards feeling good about bodies in general. It means understanding that all bodies are good bodies.

Is modeling all about beauty or there is something more that must be considered?

Being a model is very challenging, I’ll say it’s all about beauty and self love. You really have to take care of you whoever it’s more about to have certain “something “ a look that fit! And the camera has to absolutely love you from every angle. As long as you have a healthy skin type no matter what your complexion and fit body even if you are not zero figure can model Modeling demands a photogenic face or body of you have beautiful hands you can be hand model There is a constant need for every kind of model so modeling isn’t monopolized by anyone , it’s just preconceived notions that hinder many talents from entering fields.
