It was in this manner, amid digital glances and the swift scrolling of thumbs, that we came across Federico Graziano, a young artist who transforms thoughts and emotions into tangible works of art.
In this intricate play of virtual destiny, we found ourselves discovering the creative world of "cenepasdelart," an artist whose journey intertwines with the nuances of the human soul. Encountering his work was akin to embarking on a journey into one's own psyche, where painting becomes a universal language translating internal chaos into a comprehensible visual form.
Reflecting on the randomness that brought us together with this emerging talent prompts spontaneous contemplation on the unpredictable nature of life. Serendipity, like an artist's brush on a blank canvas, paints our path and introduces us to unique connections. In this intricate design, there is intrinsic importance in discovery and mutual support, an opportunity to transform happenstance into meaning.
In this interview, we will explore the unique world of Federico Graziano, delving beyond the canvas to understand his creative process, the challenges he has faced on his journey, and the essence of his art. We hope to provide a glimpse into his distinctive vision, demonstrating that every authentic emotional investment in art not only changes lives but also offers new perspectives, enriching the fabric of our humanity.

Tell me about your background and especially how art has become a part of your life.

My name is Federico Graziano, known as "cenepasdelart" and I am 23 years old. I was born and raised in Milan, the city where I currently live. I graduated in mechanical and mechatronics engineering, and I am currently studying for a degree in civil and environmental engineering. My interest in art began thanks to a teacher and artist during middle school. Despite our tumultuous teacher-student relationship, I recognized her immense passion for the subject. However, I decided to abandon art later on and pursue a different academic path. In subsequent years, after facing complicated life experiences, I discovered the existence of invisible illnesses and disorders. This led me to relate to myself and others dysfunctionally. I found in painting and creating art a way to bring everything happening in my mind into reality and restore emotional and mental order, which ultimately helped and saved me.

What inspires you, and what is your creative process like?

In my paintings, I depict stories and emotions, paradoxically needing to suffer to create. I unconsciously seek pain in life to represent it artistically. People and relationships inspire me. After self-analysis of my emotions, my mind projects predominantly abstract images, which I try to reproduce on canvas, giving importance to the materials I use. From the initial idea to the tools I use for the artwork, nothing is random; each detail is carefully crafted to represent my mind's expressions. This process helps me heal and cope with life.

How does your environment influence your art?

Milan is a productive and hectic city, focused on work, which makes it challenging for people to be human and build connections. Besides my dysfunctional relationships, the surrounding environment, despite its emptiness, fuels my artworks.

What difficulties do you face in your artistic journey?

Since I started painting, I've observed that modern art in a country like Italy is not widely recognized, influenced by a different cultural perspective on art. Being an artist is becoming less accessible, as it requires spending money on materials that someone from a lower-middle-class background like me cannot afford. Additionally, emerging artists often lack trust and support, being seen more as individuals with a unique hobby than recognized artists.

How did you develop your technique and style and how is your approach to creation evolving?

Experimentation was crucial for me to find suitable techniques. Although I currently express myself through abstraction, I resist being labeled. My works and I are continually evolving without a specific guideline or destination. My mind decides the appropriate techniques and style in front of a blank canvas, a flow of momentary and uncontrollable ideas. My body is merely the vessel my mind uses to create physical works.

What do you think is the role of art today?

Art has always served the purpose of giving meaning to life. It is the only way for a finite being, by definition, to live eternally.

A significant song for you?

The most important song for me is "Oceano" by Fabrizio de Andrè.
